Bye, bye baby hair

Well, we did it....I guess finally for some people, but it felt so soon for me. Landon had his first haircut last night and he did great! He looks like such a big boy now. Sniff, sniff. He was really good :) He sat very still and even smiled while having his hair cut by Miss Pam. And she was wonderful with him as she is with all the kids. Lauren was not so sure Landon needed a haircut and was saying before we got there that he really did not need to get it done. And while he was sitting in the chair she stood nearby watching to make sure he was ok. It was very sweet. Jonah just looked on sucking his sucker like such a grown up young man. Gosh...they are growing up too fast!

Pictures!

We recently had a photo shoot with our photographer and friend, Rene Rodriguez. It went great and the kids had a really fun time! Lauren surprised us all and was all about her photo session. She pushed everyone out of the room and only "allowed" one of us to come in at a time to watch her. This is our child who really does not cooperate well for pictures...except for Rene. He gets her to enjoy it and have fun at the same time. Jonah loved his time in the spotlight and showed off all his Star Wars moves :) Landon did great...except when he was crawling away trying to get into all of Rene's camera gear! Enjoy the pictures!

Guess Who's Turning 1???

Landon Paul Evans was born 1 year ago today...whoa. It's been a year and it seems like it's only been a few months. I can remember a year ago today as if it just happened minutes ago. We were not expecting our precious boy 4 weeks early on the hottest day of spring in 2009! If I remember correctly, it was like 80+ degrees here in Kalamazoo on April 24th! I remember calling for Jess, trying to wake him up, to tell him my water broke and we needed to pack to leave for the hospital. It seemed like 5 minutes before he woke up fully to realize he was not dreaming! We packed and headed to the hospital with my mom leaving Papa to take care of Jonah and Lauren. After arriving and getting checked in at the hospital my mom said, So, if it's a boy, any names?!!??? (We had a girl name already picked out) Uh, no...And so the discussion and internet searching began. We had a list of our top 3 names narrowed down when they came to take us for the c-section. I cannot begin to explain how excited we were to find out what our baby was and in the moment when the dr. lifts your baby up and says, "It's a boy!". It was one of the most amazing memories about his delivery. The thrill of finally finding out what sex your baby is when delivered is simply amazing. Amazing. When Jess and I both saw him up close for the first time, we both thought to ourselves, he's a Landon. And it's funny because my mom thought the very same thing the first time she saw and held him. And none of us had the chance to share this until hours after he was born!
Landon is a happy, busy boy. He has a great laugh, loves to explore & climb, is thrilled at the sight of his big brother and sister, is shy, loves to sit and cuddle, is a great eater, enjoys getting into toilet paper and any cupboard and drawer he can open, loves his blankie, and is the most adorable red headed little boy. Thank you, Lord, for Landon. Happy Birthday Buster!
